Hello friends and family of the Parish Episcopal School program in Belize! WLS staff here. The group is having an incredible time in Belize and all is well! Check out some photos and videos below of all the amazing things they are doing. Don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 303-679-3412 with any questions! Day 2: By Marcus Humplick First we packed up and left the Tropical Education Center and took a boat to Tobacco Caye, and the boat ride was amazing. When we got there, I was so amazed at how small the island actually was because you could see ocean in all parts of the island. Then we got ready to be on the beach, and we got an intro to snorkeling. During the day snorkel we saw a seven foot sting ray AFTER we got out of the water. We also saw some crabs and conch shells. But in the evening everything came crumbling down. The sea grass was so high that the first group of night snorkelers couldn't swim through it so my group didn't get to do in the water! Kind of upsetting. Overall the day was fun and I got to go snorkeling. Day 3: First day at Tobacco Caye By Ryland Marshall: Today was our first real day at Tobacco Caye. Tobacco Caye was our own little paradise. The water is turquoise blue and we could the the bottom. Our day started out with a delicious breakfast and next we went snorkeling. We snorkeled 4 times! Once we went snorkeling in the mangroves and we saw a baby nurse sharking hiding. The shark was about 4 feet away. . . 4 feet. We also we to the Smithsonian Research Station. The researchers showed us around and then we had a change to explore the island. Our guide for snorkeling, Dylan(sp?), started showing us animals that we are allowed to touch in the ocean. I held a sea urchin, a prickly starfish, touched an anemone and held a few hermit crabs. The view the researchers had off the 2nd floor was breathtaking. We returned to our island and had a few tropical drinks. We ended our day with ANCHOR and a game. Day 4: by Michaela Creel Early morning we woke up to leave the island Tobacco Caye. A lot of us prepped for getting soaked on the boat ride like before, but this time we just got to enjoy the breeze. Besides spending time bonding, playing a song game on the bus, we made a few stops. First we got to stop at a salsa and jam store, which was delicious by the way. We got to taste test all types of salsa and jams. They even had an exotic taste test. Next we went to The Art Box where we got to look at souvenirs that are from cultures Belize wide. There were magnets, wood pieces, and even crystals. Personally I enjoyed the salsa shop a bit more. Once we finished we went to a Belizean restaurant to eat lunch. I had a chicken quesadilla as did Tatum and Izzi, whereas Jordan had chicken fingers. Then we finally arrived at Clarissa Falls and got to choose our rooms. We then closed the day learning about what type of leaders we were and had a rice, beans and chicken for dinner. Day 5 by Grace Moundas and Izzi Baggett: On the 5th day Izzi and Grace were the leaders. Today was the first day of the community project. Grace first went with the kids and made great friends with them . Some of their favorite games were duck-duck goose, freeze touch/tag, red rover, and Mr. Wolf. One of Grace's close friendd is a 7 year old. Her name is Gabe and she is extremely cute and excited all the time. First Izzi did the community service project. For this project, we were making and pour cement. The sun was blazing down and it was hot but drinking was was definitely a big help. After that we left and had lunch at Clarissa falls, where we are staying. Then we went to the House of Culture. Here we heard a lot of about the stories of the Belizean Culture. One of the most important stories in their culture was el duede. We played games with the stories and then went outside to see the art. The art at the center was amazing. Everyone was extremely talented, especially this young kid named Carlos. HE was 10 years old and had the most amazing talented pieces of art I have even seen. After the house of culture we came back to Clarissa Falls and had dinner. For dinner we had pasta and it was amazing! Then we had ANCHOR we told all of our stories from the day.
